Ms. Darensburg has played sports all of her life. She played High School basketball, softball and volleyball for the Fremont High School Lady Tigers (Oakland) in 1977 and 1978. she played for the first women's basketball team at Merritt College in 1980 and 1981. she has been invloved with the Oakland Babe Ruth League since 1987 as a very involved parent. She began coaching in the league in 1988. She coached in the T-Ball (6-9), minor (9-10) and major (11-12) division. She served as secretary of the Oakland Babe Ruth League from 1990 to 1993. As a board member, she visited the White House with Oakland Babe Ruth Bambino World Champions in 1990 and 1991. She took a hiatus in 1993 and returned in 2011 as a coach in Cal Ripken Oakland Babe Ruth League. She's coached in the T-ball (4-7) and Rookie (7-8) divisions and will begin coaching in the minor (9-10) division in 2015. She believes strongly in youth sports being vehicles to not only teaching the fundamentals of a particular sport but also to teach life skills. Using her degree in Organizational Behavior, she seeks to motivate and inspire her players to always persevere (never give up) and to have integrity (do the right thing;even when nobody is watching).
